Erica McMannes started out her career path in 2003 working for Army MWR/CYSS in various Director and leadership positions. After 10 years, 6 moves, 2 kids, and limited traditional job opportunity, she had to get creative with a way to find fulfillment and income that meshed well with the transient and unpredictable military lifestyle. Her entrepreneurial spirit was kindled in 2012 when Erica joined a veteran owned start up in Silicon Valley in a grassroots support position. Over the past 5 years, she has grown that experience through various consultant, blogging, and marketing gigs into a full time position as Community Director at LINE1.org. Erica is also CEO/Co-founder of MadSkills, an interactive platform to provide professional military spouses remote work opportunities. She is an Army spouse and mom to 2 boys, ages 10 & 5. She has survived 9 moves in 15 years from the swamps of Fort Polk and to the beauty of Monterey, CA and everything in between. She likes to run (but only if there is medal and free food at the finish line) and she loves collecting antique glass bottles. She was also recently named the Joint Base Langley-Eustis Military Spouse of the Year of 2017.

Eliza graduated from Auburn University and majored in Communication and Marketing.  As a lifelong athlete she also played on the Auburn Softball and Rugby teams.  Eliza met her husband playing rugby at Ft. Benning after college and was quickly introduced to the military spouse lifestyle moving to various duty stations before ending up at Ft. Carson in Colorado Springs.     Eliza’s yoga journey began here, as she searched to find a sense of self and something to compliment her previous athletic endeavors.  When her husband was deployed for a year, she found the full benefits of what yoga could offer- the ability to recognize that she could hold herself up- both mentally AND physically.   Fast forward 14 years later, Eliza and her husband own and operate a successful yoga studio- FlyDog Yoga in Charlottesville, Virginia. They have built their studio from 10 classes a week to over 60 weekly classes, from 30 students a day to over 250 students a day.  Eliza credits their success on building a strong community through empowering and inspiring everyone that comes through their doors.  Eliza is a Certified Baptiste Power Vinyasa teacher, on her way to be a Master Baptiste Teacher and is currently going through FIT to Lead, the highest level of training the Baptiste Yoga Institute offers. As a result of FlyDog Yoga’s success, Eliza was selected out of 800 applicants as a 2017 Tory Burch Foundation Fellow and was a top 10 participant for their Pitch Competition. Yoga has not only allowed Eliza to hold herself up but has created wings for her to fly.
